Culberson County Sheriff Oscar Carrillo shows a photo of one of his deputies responding to a distress call from a rancher, who using a satellite phone on June 21st, found two migrants in the desert of Texas on Chispa Road in Jeff Davis County. Raul, 35, and his son Christian, 15, both from Ecuador, were crossing the border from Mexico to the U.S. when they got lost after their smuggler abandoned them. Upon deputies' arrival at the scene, Raul was showing signs of severe dehydration, but his son Christian was already deceased.
